Review: Nippies Skin

QUESTION

I noticed a lot of your outfits have very low backs. I love this look myself but I find it difficult to pull off because of the bra situation. Do you have a magic bra? Or, if you are going braless, is there a magic trick for concealing cold nipples poking through your shirt? Or, are your boobs just magic?  — Molly, Los Angeles CA

ANSWER

I don't think I've ever been asked any one question more than I have this one! I never thought I'd see the day where I would openly talk about what pasties I use, but apparently that day has come.

It's no secret I LOVE backless tops and dresses, as well as plunging necklines, all of which make the "girls" a bit of a predicament. I have one product I love which I wore under every backless/plunge outfit I wore on the Bachelor. Since I get several emails a day about this very topic, it's time to let the cat out of the bag.

First, I must emphasize that I'm not being paid to advertise these. I'm about to rave about this product to the extent that it might sound like advertising, but I swear it's not. I'm actually just totally obsessed with my pasties.

I first discovered Nippies Skin during a visit to LA a few years ago. I was at a beauty supply store and needed some sort of silicone pasties as I had forgotten my usual pair at home. An employee asked if I wanted regular ones ($12) or "the best ones" ($25). Who wouldn't be curious to know what made a certain pair of silicone pasties twice the price of another? Aren't they all more or less the same?

It turns out, NO, THEY ARE NOT. Seriously, Nippies Skin were probably the best $25 I spent that year. They're totally reusable (I just gently wash them with hand soap between uses and let them sit to dry), and after many wears they still stick just as well as the first wear. (I've had mine for around two years and still use that same original pair.) My favorite part is that they're THIN. My other silicone pasties were so thick that under a tight-fitting top they tended to look like a big pancake-like nipple. (Sorry if that's graphic, but it's true!) The thinness of Nippies makes the transition from the rest of your... um, boob, totally seamless. Your girls never look remotely pointy, nor too "loose". (If you know what I mean.) Also, Nippies Skin are matte, so if you're wearing something slightly sheer, they don't show up in photographs. (Sometimes you didn't know your top was sheer until it's too late and there's photographic proof!) Apparently celebs like them for that very reason.

Obviously, if you desire a lot of padding, this won't be for you. (If that's the case, you may want to consider a sticky bra.) However, since backless looks aren't really about the boobs anyway, I think it's best to go natural on the front end. I always do!
