Currently Coveting // Checks, mate!

Currently Coveting is where I share what items I've been eyeing and buying. I also love a good deal and take prices into consideration.

Plaid has come and gone (and come and gone and come again), but I've never stopped loving it. There's something gloriously old-school and buttoned-up about plaid, so when paired with an updated cut, it's about as chic as you can get. Every fall wardrobe should have at least a few checked necessities. Just be sure to style this distinct and loud print with solid colors. A plaid shirt also looks terrific with a fur vest.

Below are my top picks, a couple of which may or may not be in shopping baskets already...

Torn by Ronny Kobo "Ronny" Skirt ($200). What I like about this skirt is I'm fairly certain I've never seen anything like it. Plus it's sexy and nerdy at the same time. I'd pair it with a fitted off-the-shoulder black top. Or, if you're daring, that matching "Oli" Crop Top ($218) is also cute.

ASOS Peg Pants in Plaid Check Print ($41.69). These are basic but with a twist. I like their androgynous feel, and they're undeniably versatile.

Babaton "Beau" Blouse ($130) from Aritzia. I find this blouse airy, feminine, yet work-appropriate. I'd love it tucked into black leather shorts.

JOA Classic Plaid Collar Coat ($124.99). Another basic yet statement-making piece. And again with the androgyny! But seriously... the price is right and I think I'd wear the crap out of this coat.

Zara Black Checked Jumpsuit ($99.90). This is a classic "me" piece in that I'm loving it but am sure most people would see this and scratch their heads. But just think if it were styled right: Rolled-up sleeves, black patent pumps, a different belt higher on the waist, and sparkling dangly earrings...I will probably buy this.

Lovers + Friends "Get Down" Blouse ($125). I LOVE this. Old school plaid—in the stodgiest color combination—made sexy. I love wearing a daring plunge now and again so this top marries two loves of mine.

Classiques Entier Bias Cut Plaid Wool Blend Skirt ($258). Does it get any more classically feminine than this? It's thick and rich and strikes me as something Charlotte from Sex and the City would wear.

Zara Hooded Checked Wool Cape ($169). I have a weakness for cute capes. I like that this classic tartan is updated with a modern silhouette and funky green faux fur in the hood. Just adorable.

AEO Plaid Moto Jacket ($119.95). I'm not normally an American Eagle Outfitters girl (okay, so I never normally even set foot inside), but this jacket is CUTE. Plus, as Nina Garcia would say, it looks expensive. It looks like it could be Rag & Bone or something you'd stumble across in Intermix. Very fall-friendly. Like.

Haute Hippie Plaid Silk Halter Wrap Gown ($795). The ultimate dichotomy! Plaid is so unexpected for this gorgeous silk gown, it makes me so happy. That price, however... Looks like I'll have this one bookmarked waiting for a sale.
