It's safe to say suede is this Fall's "It" fabric, but dare I say it, I prefer the fantastic vegan options out there. Sure, you could get a 100% real suede skirt similar to the one I wore above (like say THIS one), but I don't know about you, $800 seems like a damn pretty penny to pay for something you'll have to baby and dry clean. Meanwhile, today's faux suedes are quite convincing, machine washable (!), and frankly, wayyy more comfortable. Plus, if you're like me and have some morality issues when it comes to things like meat, fur, and yes, leather, it's more comfortable for the mind, too. (To be clear, I do have leather pieces, a couple of pieces with fur, and occasionally do eat meat. I'm not on any sort of a high horse about this, but I think about it and do make an effort to refrain.)

I love the ladylike-ness of midi skirts like this; they're flattering in that 70's, high-waisted way. (You may remember I wore a denim, suspender skirt with the same button-down closure awhile back.) I picked up these pumps in the labyrinth of a sale section at the Rockefeller Anthropologie about a year and a half ago; one of those I-can't-believe-there's-one-pair-left-and-it's-my-size moments. (Being a painfully average 7.5/8, this never happens for me!) Hardcore Bachelor fans might remember this little bag from the premiere of Chris' season, when they threw that big, red carpet party. I accessorized my long sleeve, polka-dot maxi with it. I love getting good mileage out of my purchases, making this look a great marriage of old (the shoes and bag) and new (the skirt).

Some current suede/faux suede pieces I've been eyeing...

Thanks for stopping by!
